Robotic surgery is a type of minimally invasive surgery that uses a computer-assisted technology to aid in surgical procedures. Rather than operating on patients through large incisions, surgeons use miniaturized surgical instruments that fit through a series of small incisions to reduce scarring and recovery time.

For patients, benefits may include:

  • Significantly less pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Less scarring
  • Shorter recovery time
  • A faster return to normal activities
  • Better clinical outcomes

Phoenixville Hospital is proud to have 16 experienced robotic surgeons. Our Robotic Surgery Center was the first in Chester County to employ the latest generation robotic surgical system (both DaVinci® XI and SI), and since November of 2006, under the direction of Pankaj Kalra, M.D., Medical Director, the Center has been the site of more than 3,500 robotic-assisted surgeries, including treatments relating to:

  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Ear, Nose and Throat
  • General Surgery
  • Gynecologic Oncology
  • Gynecology
  • Urology

Before you decide on surgery, discuss treatment options with your doctor. Understanding the risks and benefits of each treatment can help you make the best decision for your individual situation.
