3D mammography is the standard of care for all our patients. 3D takes multiple images of the breast using X-ray. The images are then reconstructed to give a more detailed image of breast tissue and is particularly helpful for women with dense breast tissue. Using this technology, breast cancers may be seen earlier by looking for different types of tumors and cysts. It is recommended that all women ages 40-69 have a routine mammogram every year. If women are at risk for breast cancer, they should start mammogram screenings before age 40.
